I very much enjoyed "The Mind-Beauty Connection", finished it in 2 days, and what's more, I've actually been following Dr. Wechsler's suggestions. She starts out by discussing skin care and the science behind various creams and treatments available, and then launches into a description of her 9-day renewal plan for the skin.

Dr. Wechsler provides straightforward, honest and unbiased advice on effective skin care routines, make-up, diet, exercise, etc. She does mention her favorite products, but does not endorse one product over another - which makes her opinion even more valuable. The 9-day renewal plan incorporates the proper diet, exercise, sleep, meditation, and so on. Everything is thoroughly explained, backed-up by scientific facts and very easy to follow! The steps she suggests are simple things that can be included in everyone's day without drastically changing your lifestyle.

Overall, "The Mind-Beauty Connection" is a superb reference for women of all ages. There were a couple things I did not agree with, which is why I rated the book 4-stars instead of 5:

1) Dr. Wechsler writes that mineral make-up is completely irritant-free and works for everyone. I've thoroughly researched mineral make-up before deciding not to use it, and found that mineral make-up contains bismuth dioxide. When someones 'buffs' this make-up as instructed, it forced the chemical into the pores; otherwise the make-up will just slide off. Bismuth dioxide can cause irritation and break-outs, and I know plenty of people who sworn off mineral make-up after having bad reactions.

2) Dr. Wechsler says that there is no need for a special eye cream, and I've been told the exact opposite by my dermatologist. (and no, she did not try to sell me a specific brand) Maybe it's all in my head, but the area around my eyes has shown much improvement since I started using a separate eye cream. (it's a basic cream purchased at a drug store)
