Just posted!  I know its an older one.  What you think of this one?  Does the series get better?

I am on the third book and it does get better as the series progresses.  I actually saw the fourth book in the series at a UBS which grabbed my interest and then decided to start at the beginning of the series and ordered the first two books " Minion" and "Awakening" from PBS.  I ended up buying the third book " The Hunted" and the fourth book "The Bitten" because the Wish lists were so long!

I really wanted to like it, but I couldn't stomach the urban slag the main character uses, it totally turned me off.

It's not my fav series, I have I think the last 4 or 5 in my tbr and I'm thinking of posting them. The language is just over the top. There is no need for it. They would be 10 times better without it. I try to read them and ignore the writing but it's almost too much work.

I couldn't get into the books either. Didn't like the writing or the main character. Ended up posting all the books.

I have the first book in my TBR.  You guys aren't making me very excited to read it.

I think it is like any series.  Some people like it and others can't get into it.  I like the series but it is not for everyone. I really like the main character, Damali Richards, and her love interest, Carlos Rivera.  I have read RAVE reviews for the "Outlander" series but that has no appeal to me nor the Laura K. Hamilton "Anita Blake" series.

Read the first few books in the Vampire Huntress series and make your own decision on whether you want to continue the series.  I was pretty psyched to see books Five & Six at my UBS because the waitlist is kinda long for some of the books in this series.

Carol, I still plan to read at least the first one, but it's always nicer to hear that people loved it instead of didn't like it.

I'm with you on Outlander.  Everyone I've heard of loved it, and I couldn't even get very far into the first book.

I've got them all and they're just waiting for their turn to be read!  :)

Oh and BTW, I'm an Outlander lover, too!

FWIW, I'm working my way through the entire series and have enjoyed all the books thus far.  I've been a big fan of L.A.Banks since I met her at a big book signing event a few years ago.  Another author friend, Brandon Massey, introduced us and she spent a good chunk of the afternoon talking about her books and many others with me.  Give them a try and see what you think.
