Joan Hess is one of the best-kept secrets of Arkansas. She brings to life a group of characters that are funny, heartwarming, and heartbreaking all at the same time. Having lived in Arkansas for a short while, Maggody is a place that I know well. If you like your mysteries with a touch of irreverancy, than you can't miss with the Maggody series. From Arly to Ruby Bee to Diesel Buchanon, it is a treat to get to know the whole clan.
