Her Marine days may be over...

But private investigator Angela Matelli is still soldiering on, especially when it comes to the duties of her large Italian family in Boston's east end. Currently she's been recruited to inform Ma that sister Sophia is dating a married man, and younger sister Rosa is new her pesky shadow, working as an "intern".

Then out of the past comes ex-Marine Ev Morrow, a former mentor. His fourteen-year-old daughter, Edie, is missing, kidnapped by his unstable ex-wife. Angela picks up the trail, only to discover that Edie has run away with a friend whose body has just washed up on Revere Beach. As the pieces fall into place, Angela fears it may be too late to save Edie.
