Really enjoyed the book. North's including himself as a character in such a "real world" setting was both refreshing and thought provoking. You not only thought "this could have really happened," you also thought "hey, is he trying to tell us about something that really happened?" A really good book.

I started to read this book but found it to be quite long and tedious. Just as the story started to get good, it made another flashback to another time. I just couldn't get into it. But, I thought the premise was fascinating.
My husband enjoied this book very much.
fast moving military espionage thriller
This is a great story line. Soem of it reads like it straight from the papers.
Intriguing, intricate and fast moving story lines pull the reader into the book and through a wonderful journey. Col. North uses his military expertise, his religious viewpoints, and his story telling ability to weave a novel that any military fan has to read.
I really enjoyed this book. Lots of details, good plots with a story of military honor and political betrayal . North mixes fact with fiction and tells a great military novel.
North's debut thriller, the first of a three-novel series, is set in the mid-1990s and revolves around Maj. Peter J. Newman, a U.S. Marine assigned to a top-secret National Security Council staff position at the White House. (Guess whose old job and office Newman occupies.) Newman is ordered to coordinate a covert operation to eliminate a group of international law breakers including Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. When the mission is compromised, Newman and his personnel are left hanging, and a series of events unfolds exposing God's hand in Newman's life. While there will be strong demand from North's legion of fans and where T. Davis Bunn is popular, this novel is an irritating act of hubris. By having his character conveniently discover evidence that proves North acted with the full authority of the White House in the Iran-Contra scandal, the author uses fiction to clear his muddied name and get his version of the truth out to the public.

Book is in excellent condition. Not from a smoke free enviroment however books are kept in a closet on shelves they do not smell of smoke according to a non-smoker that I have asked.
