Moby Dick or the White Whale Author:Herman Melville A novel that explores the darkest depths and brightest hopes in the souls of men, Moby-Dick is an impassioned drama of the ultimate human struggle that the Atlantic Monthly called "the greatest of American novels."
If I had not ended up with two copies of this book, I would not part with this. One of the great novels of American literature for a reason. Suprisingly easy-to-read in spite of years of complaints from college students. If you read no other book in the English language, read this!
I personally did not like this book. I found it had way to may details on the interworks of a whale. If you want that kind of information, read this book. If you like mundane details about whales and the sea, read the book. But if you want to be entertained, read something else, like Don Quixote.
I only read it because it was a classic. But I have read so much better. I gave it 1 star (and that was being nice).
