I have read 15 if you count the HP series as one. I Know This Much is True left a permanent impression on me. That and The Poisonwood Bible are in my top 3.

I agree with Pam S.

"I really don't think of some of the books listed as great contemporary literature"

What about Terry Pratchett, why is he not on the list?

I've read 19.  My favorite would be "The Reader"  followed by "White Orleander." D

The Five People You Meet in Heaven & The Da Vinci Code

good page turners but it's been years and have not read anything else by either author , I guess that alone speaks volumes.

Why is a kids book/series on the list ?

I read  The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold and it was weird and creepy , so I liked it. The topic of Lovely Bones does not appeal to me though.

Truth is I have not even heard of 90% of the list , I'll have to look them up.

I've read 10 or so and have six on my bookshelves TBR. In general, I'd say the list is way to influenced by what's popular and books made into movies.

I have read 9, 6 more are in my TBR pile.  I remember liking 2 of them, Lovely Bones and The Five Pople you Meet.

I've read 18 of these (if you count the Harry Potter series as only 1).  I have 3 more on my TBR list.  However, like all of you, I certainly don't consider these to be our classics of the future.

I've read 22 (counting Harry Potter as one). I agree with many of you: some of these do not deserve to be included.

Counting HP series as one, I've read 14 of these. It's a very eclectic (strange) list.

I am embarrassed to say that I've had almost all of them on my shelf at one time or another and just didn't find them appealing, so I passed them along without even reading them. (White Oleander, Five People You Meet in Heaven, Poisonwood Bible, which I carried around for months but only made it through about 50 pages).

Maybe I'll go back and take a closer look to see whether some of the others appeal to me.
