I had been looking into this book for some time, and never purchased because the reviews were so-so. I read the first chapter in the June issue of Redbook magazine and was hooked. I enjoyed the story. Some was a bit predictable, but it was great story about friends.

An enjoyable book - perfect for taking to the beach or for curling up with on a rainy day, when you're dreaming of the beach! Set on Nantucket, Lexi & Clare, best friends since girlhood, make very different choices after high school graduation. Clare remains on the island engaged to her philandering high school sweetheart, while Lexi marries a wealthy real estate developer and travels the world. Now, ten years later, Lexi is back. Will they be able to get past old grievances and slights (real & imagined) to rekindle their friendship?

I was a little disappointed in this book. The story line was o.k....but to tell you the truth, I felt like I was reading a teen novel because it was written with such simplicity. I think my teenage daughter would have enjoyed it more than I did.

Lexi Laney and Clare Hart grew up together and lived an idyllic life in picturesque Nantucket. As children, they were forever sharing wondrous adventures and spending time together as best friends. And when it was time to share intimate secrets and let their imaginations run free, they escaped to their own private hideaway: Moon Shell Beach. But nothing ever stays the same. Once the complicated pressures of adulthood encroach, their intense bond of friendship becomes frayed, hurtful words are exchanged, and Lexi flees Nantucket for a life of luxury while Clare stays behind.

A decade later, a newly divorced Lexi returns to make amends with those she left in her wake - particularly Clare, who still simmers with resentment toward her friend. Their emotional reunion is beset with challenges, as Lexi's return sets off a series of startling events. And as Clare's life takes an abrupt detour, Lexi wonders if the happiness and peace they once knew on Moon Shell Beach will, in the end, prove to be as fleeting as time and the tide.

I wish that I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. For the most part, it was very enjoyable, and I think Nancy Thayer is a wonderful writer. However, in my opinion, the plot began to derail slightly towards the end. The book certainly started off very strongly, but certain plot twists just didn't seem all that plausible to me.

As a result, I had to give Moon Shell Beach: A Novel by Nancy Thayer an A! I'm very glad to have read this book, and will certainly read more from this author in the future. However, I think that I will hold off on that for a short while.

Book was not what I thought it would be, I felt like there should have been a few more chapters so you could find out what happened to some of the people.

If you want a book about friendship and love read one of the following books they will show you about real friendship

I truly enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down once I started it. A good story and fun to read. It was a light easy to read book and I read it in 2 days or less. I will definitely read more by Nancy Thayer.

I loved this book! It is a light beach read that make me chuckle and brought a few tears to my eyes as well. This author is new to me. Her descriptions of life on Nantucket Island make you feel like you are there visiting. I found myself caring for the characters like they were my friends and I could not wait to read more of the story. This author has a number of books written that take place on Nantucket. I actually read Heat Wave first and liked it so much, I picked up this and 3 others. This one appears to be the start of it all. Although it is not a series per se, you will find out what happens to some of the characters at least in Heat Wave. I'm hoping the books in between will fill in the gaps as well. You won't be disappointed if you like books about friendships and their complexities, romance, wounded people and the poor decisions they make, etc.
