Mortimer the mouse decides to plant a seed and let it grow. He grows impatient waiting for the plant to sprout. When it does, he observes God's miracle of spring and thanks him for it.

(I would like to add that nowhere in the book descriptions online or on the book itself does the publisher/author inform the purchaser/reader that this is a book about God and his miracles. Therefore, if you are looking for a cute secular story about the science of Spring, this is not it. This took me totally by surprise when I read the book.)
