Many times Christian books are valuable across denominational lines. This book is not one of those books. It is strongly Catholic and those who are not Catholic will probably receive minimal value from this book.

This book is more memoir than manual. I found the details author's life both interesting and similar to my own enough that I was able to enjoy reading about her experiences and use them to shift my own attitudes about different areas of my life and motherly role.
However, when it came to the parts where she tried to help you create your own rule, I found the questions asked being very general and not terribly helpful. I would have found it much more useful if there were more detail in this section, possibly in the form of, "if you answered in this way, read this section (or these books, our this website, etc.) But if you answered this way, then here are the resources for you." Basically some next steps after you've done the thinking work to get you on your way to the implementation.
