Nina Reilly has (as usual) gotten herself mixed up with a client that has little chance of winning her freedom from a murder charge. This client has enemies other than the prosecution and they are trying to kill her and Nina always seems to be in the line of fire. Whether she thinks Misty is guilty of murdering her husband or not has no bearing on Nina's defense and the more roadblocks thrown at her, the more she digs her heels in, refusing to give up. Sometimes Nina's tactics puzzle me, but it makes the book a little more interesting.

Good legal thriller. A bit longish in some areas, but it still kept my attention. I loved that it was set in Lake Tahoe, since I grew up in El Dorado County and know all about that setting (it was almost weird reading about Apple Hill!), but it might be distracting to someone not familiar with the area. I'm happy to have found a new series to enjoy!

A novel about Nina Reilly. She is an attorney that has to start her life over again after a divorce. She moves from San Franciscon to Lake Tahoe and opens her own law office. She meets Michelle "Misty Patterson and takes her own as client, first in a divorce case that turns into defending her for her husband's murder. This novel keeps you in suspense to the very end. Wonderfully written. I couldn't put it down.

This is the first of the Nina Reilly books, set in Lake Tahoe, written by the Perri O'Shaughnessy sister team. Reilly, who locates in Tahoe with her young son after the breakup of her marriage, opens a struggling law practice and soon has her first important client, an abused young woman who may or may not have murdered her husband - but just can't quite remember.

This is the first in the series of Nina Reilly books -- written by two sisters, one a lawyer the other a writer/editor. The legal aspects of the book are very true to life and the pacing/plotting is excellent. The best thing I can say about this book is that after posting my copy here, I ordered the next in the series! I look forward to reading all of the Nina Reilly books, she's a complex and interesting character.

Misty Patterson only remembered the fight, the polar bear statue she used as a bludgeon, a trail of blood, and the comatose sleep that followed. When she awoke, her husband and the statue were missing. Only the blood was left. She had come to attorney Nina Reilly's office seeking a divorce, but when Anthony Patterson was found ont he bottom of a frigid lake, Misty needed a miracle.
A riveting whodunnit.
