I love reading about the history of the Smoky Mountains since this where my mom came from. This book is great. The over 300 rare photographs are so good with telling the story of the people. A lot of things I learned about the hardship the communities had when the government came in and took their home place. This was a great place to live and bring up your children if you could take the hardship and toil or if you were skilled workers. My mom was lucky both of her parents were skilled workers.
