Thriller writer Martin Stillwater, though not at the top of his game, makes enough money and has enough fame to satisfy himself. He's got a good life, is in love with his wife and he adores his children. His future looks bright. Then a stranger, who happens to be Marty's dead ringer, shows up and accuses Marty of stealing his life and he wants it back.
And that's just the beginning of the book. However, as much as I absolutely love Dean Koontz, this one didn't hold me enthralled the way most of his others have done. I was actually able to put it down to check my e-mail and I didn't pick it back up till the next day. Not a good sign for a Koontz book. However, like all his work, it was an excellent story that scared me plenty.

good book, however, the story follows stephen king's The Dark Half so closely, its hard to believe its a coincidence.

Interesting version of government cloning of humans...a very scary and real thing/possibilty. Good story line and characters that lighten up that heavy storeline. On the lighter fun side, the main character is a writer who has an on-going story time with his Christmas poem/story for his girls...love the "Santa's Evil Twin" that he refers to/goes back to throughout the book...creative and suspensiveful.

In typical Dean Koontz fashion, this book was twisted but very well written. Not a horror book per se but kind of a cross between mystery and sci-fi.

An organization run by the rich and well-connected are murdering those who need murdering (from their point of view which is decidedly skewed.) The group develop a clone that is trained to be an assassin with no remorse. Of course, this assassin goes off his program and runs amok. The book details his adventures and the organizations efforts to find and restrain the clone.

I listened to this audiobook in my car and they many voices and inflections used in the reading really made for an enjoyable tale

A mystery novelist may have created enemies with his writing. A man breaks into his home claiming to be the writer and demands what he thinks is his.

An author of mystery books is tracked down by a mysterious psychopathic mass murderer who just happens to be the mirror image of him, and wants to take over his life. An outlandish premise, on the face of it, that becomes plausible in the hands of Dean Koontz. A page turning read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Dean Koontz does it again, this book had more twists and turns, that really kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out 'whodunit'. There was some graphic violence but not a lot.

Dean Koontz is still one of the best mystery writers of today. This book is a little slow going at first, maybe because I was reading it after surgery.

I have enjoyed all of Dean Koontz's novels. This one takes a bit of getting into, but once into the story, Dean will have you hook, line, and sinker.

Another excellent Koontz read. I was somewhat able to predict the plot, but it did not take away from the pleasure of reading the story.

I am more into murder mysteries and haven't read a Dean Koontz novel in a long, long time so I thought I'd give this one a try. I hated it, but not because the storyline or characters were bad, but because it's a typical Dean Koontz book where it's a little 'out there' and not necessisarily based on reality. If you're into Koontz, I'd say that you can't go wrong with this book.

Not one of his best books, not then he is turning out books too fast to give much thought to them anymore. This book was quite a stretch of the imagination, almost absurd at times. It was OK, but nothing to rave about.
