In 1875, a woman had to be tough to make it on her own. But thats just what Maggie Maggie Maguire was: smart, ambitious, and stubbornly adventurous. An unmarried woman whod ridden with the carnival, she crave excitement and experience. In fact, even working for the Pinkerton National Detective Agency wasnt challenging enough for Maggie Maguire. So she packed up her possessions, tendered her resignation and set out to San Francisco.

Discreet Inquiries

Maggie knows that even when you run your own business, sleuthing work can be deadly dull. And thats what shes thinking as she trails Miss Harriet Hogg, a former Indian captive now hopping from saloon to saloon in the middle of nowhere, Nevada. Harriet has an inheritance comingthat is, if she doesnt drink herself to death before she can claim it. And when a gunshot grazes Maggies ear soon after she tracks down the hapless heiress, she realizes this particular case isnt deadly dullits just plain deadly..

This was an incredible fantastic read! I chuckled and laughed out loud! Found it most entertaining, fun and easy to read! The characters were well suited for the positions they played made the story lively and fun and I loved how her cousin Grady, who was strictly a city person and her pretty much disagreed the whole story through! I enjoyed it so much, I put it by my bedside and just let myself read a chapter each night! Anyone enjoying books from the 1800s, gun slingers and mysteries should thoroughly enjoy this story! GREAT read!
