This was the first Kellerman I came across and was extremely impressed by it. Unlike his wife, Faye, Jonathan Kellerman writes from a very dark place, and it pays off, especially against the glitz of LA.

Alex Delaware has received a book that opens up a lot of wounds for his cop friend Milo. They set to work unravelling a decades-old murder... only it's not quite so simple. But then again, is it ever?

This is not my favorite Kellerman book. It seemed to be rather slow moving and was about a "cold" case 20 years old.

Slow starting, but a great middle and finish. Exciting stuff.

I have read the first twenty Alex Delaware books and often wondered about Milo Sturgis' backstory. In Book #16, we hear Milo's narrative about the beginning of his law enforcement career. Kellerman does a great job of unraveling the cold case with revelations that impact Milo's future in the LAPD. One of my favorites in this series.

I love Jonathan Kellerman. His psychological analysis of his characters is most thought provoking.
