This grisly 1948 murder in Georgia really comes to life as a small-town sheriff pursues an arrogant and untouchable killer. Witnesses were terrified, the corpse disappeared, and the criminal was audacious. No one believed the sheriff would win, or even bring the case to trial. But Lamar Pott's fanatical insistence that no man was above the law prevailed in Georgia. This is well-written and thorough.
