Who is smart enough to predict the Superbowl winner this first week into the NFL season? I'll pick the obvious- Go Colts! Go Peyton Manning!

I normally don't have favorites...we just love watching the games.  There are certain teams we don't like....but for the most part I like the Steelers.  So, I guess that would have to be my pick, even though I'm pretty sure they won't make it!  LOL

I'm a Colts fan, even though they always beat up on my Broncos.  I will say that the Broncos and the Chiefs (DH team) looked pretty bad yesterday.

Anyone hear anything the severity of  Kevin Everett  injury (he plays for the Bills)?    I heard they were keeping him sedated for the next few days while they figure out what his prognosis might be but didn't know if anyone else had heard anything.  I'm just sending good wishes to him and his family.

The only thing I heard is that the doctors did surgery to remove bone chips from his neck.

For anyone who doesn't know what happened here is a link to an article: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/2007/09/10/2007-09-10_bills_kevin_everett_under_sedation_after.html?ref=rss

I hope he recovers!

speaking as someone  living with a spinal cord injury. the helmet to helmet crash and the aftermath and news of the injury of  Kevin Everett  made my heart stop for more than a beat.  i won't bore you with my story but i shouldn't be alive today.  i firmly believe in the power of prayer and if you are a person who prays i would be praying mightily right now for kevin.

now on a lighter side.  i have to pick the Packers to be in the super bowl because they are my boys. no one picked them to beat the eagles yesterday and they did.  if the offense can catch up with the defense we should have quite a year.

The NFL?  What's that?  We live in the Los Angeles area, which despite being the 2nd largest metropolitan viewing area, has NO NFL team.  They talk about stealing the Chargers or having the Raiders (again!!), but nobody wants to pay for a new stadium and the Coliseum, Rose Bowl, etc., don't seem to meet the NFL standards.  And with everything else available, (baseball, basketball, USC, UCLA, soccer (ahh, David Beckham), hockey, la crosse, the beach, etc.), nobody seems to miss it much.

On the flip side, no game is blacked out, ever!    I grew up a Cornhusker fan.  Go Big Red!

I'll give you a two for one prediction - First, I pick the Patriots to win the Super Bowl.  They played really well on Sunday and they have some good additions.  Alas, Richard Seymour is out for awhile and Rodney Harrison ( he deserves it!!!), but I still think they will be fine.

My second prediction, although you didn't ask for it, is that the Red Sox will win the world series!  :)  What can I say, once a fan, always a fan.  Although my thumb gets pretty tired on Sundays this time of year flipping my remote from the Patriots game and back to the Red Sox game, etc, etc........

Lori, I absolutely believe in the power of prayer and will definately be praying for Kevin Everett.  I haven't heard anything more today about his progress than has already been written here.

Great topic, Robert!

I'm a Redskins fan, but alas they always start out great and sputter to a stop.  Maybe they need a new owner.

Since my Falcons are going to struggle to win 2-3 games this year (unless they trade the stadium for Peyton Manning), I'm going to fall back on my childhood favorite: The Pittsburgh Steelers! Big Ben is back! If he's dumb enough to ride a motorcycle without a helmet, he may be dumb enough to win 4 Super Bowls (like Terry Bradshaw).

I'm going to go with the Seahawks. They were almost in the NFL Championship game last year while missing some of their big name players like Matt Hasselback and Shaun Alexander.  Now if they can just stay healthy, we'll have a good chance of going all the way.  I noticed that even Jimmy Johnson on Fox Sports likes the Seahawks this year too... =)

GO HAWKS!!!

DA BEARS are going back and taking it this time!! It's going to be a rematch of the Week 1 game between the Chargers and the Bears (I was at that game by the way!!!!) This time, the Bears will get going on offense and STILL hold LT to 25 rushing yards!

I could bet who won't win the Super Bowl or even get near it.........our local team, the Chiefs......Sorry Chief fans.  The Colts are looking good already.....having family there in Indy and my DH being from Indiana, guess that would be my choice for now..........

Now if you want to talk college football, can anyone guess what my choice of a team would be?????   :0)   Duh!!!

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Kevin Everett voluntarily moved his arms and legs on Tuesday when partially awakened, prompting a neurosurgeon to say the Buffalo Bills' tight end would walk again — contrary to the grim prognosis given a day before.

"Based on our experience, the fact that he's moving so well, so early after such a catastrophic injury means he will walk again," said Dr. Barth Green, chairman of the department of neurological surgery at the University of Miami school of medicine.

"It's totally spectacular, totally unexpected," Green told The Associated Press by telephone from Miami.

Green said he's been consulting with doctors in Buffalo since Everett sustained a life-threatening spinal cord injury Sunday after ducking his head while tackling the Denver Broncos' Domenik Hixon during the second-half kickoff of the Bills' season opener.

much better news than yesterday.  treatment has changed so much since my accident.  i wish i could go back and do that day over so many times.
