The book was too long as most people have expressed in their reviews.IN my opinion cutting the book in half would be perfect. The stereotypical roles of blacks and whites wore on the reader but I use audio books to listen to while I do a 50 minute racewalk and for that purpose it was perfect. There were times when I didn't want to stop exercising and then there were times when I wanted to stop the story and listen to music as the narrative was too tedious. I say if you are going on a long trip and want to listen to a book on tape, or you expect to listen to this over a number of days it works. I can't imagine going through this story quickly as it would be too boring. Also the ending does give the reader enough closure given you have stuck with the book for 36 hours of listening. But again it does help pass the time when working out.
