I have had someone request two of my books and I clicked that I would be able to mail in two days, however I went to click the shipped button and it is disabled. When will I be able to click this button to show that I have mailed the books or will be mailing them soon? Appreciate any help I can get with that.

Thanks for the tips but I cannot print the lables from here because my printer is on the blink. I have pm`d the people and asked them to send me their mailing addy so that I can place the books in the mail first thing Wednesday morning. I just happened to notice when I pm`d them that the button was disabled and wondered why? It seems that if I dont buy their mailing lable I wont be able to get credit and be able to click that button? If that is so, it is very unfair because what would people do that do not have printers? Am I doing something wrong so far?

Gwen, You don't have to use the printed labels, but you must open the PDF label file in order to get the box to mark the book mailed. So click on the "print label" button to bring up the label on your screen. Then you'll have the ability to mark the book mailed. (The system doesn't think you have mailed the book because you haven't accessed the label in order to get the address. It can't tell if you received the address via PM.)

ETA: The label opens in a PDF file. You don't have to try to print it if you don't want to.

I don't think the I have mailed button shows up till after you click on the print wrapper button. You can click on the print wrapper button and you will see their address in that window. Just don't print it from there and copy the info. When you have mailed the books you can then click on the mailed button. Hope this helps.

LOL Edited to add that Jane beat me too it.

Thanks Jane, but I did bring up the lable in that manner, that is how I found out my printer wouldnt print them because I bought one of those refill cartridges online and it has messed up my printer, I should have known better than to buy one of those refurbished ink cartridges but thought I was getting a deal, so there is some truth to the old adage, you get what you pay for, now it looks like Ill be out a new printer!  Anyhow, back to this topic, when I opened the PDF file and seen I couldnt print the lable, I went back out and that button was still disabled. Is it because I have stated that I would mail the book in a couple of days and it wont release that button until that two day time period has lapsed? Just a thought.

No, once you've opened the PDF file, you should be able to mark it as mailed. Try opening the wrapper again, being sure to open the PDF file on your machine. Then the button should come up. If it still doesn't, contact R&R.

No problem! Also, if you're needing "live help" you can click on the help center and then on "live help". The tour guides who are logged in are available for PM's if you need someone to help walk you through a solution.

Gwen. As Jane and Leslie stated;; After you click that you can mail the book within 2 days, the print wrapper button comes up. You MUST click "Print Wrapper".   Then you should be able to click "book has been mailed".

This is from the Help Center:

Can I hand-write the address to send a book?

Yes.  If you cannot (or do not wish to) print the wrapper, you may hand-write the address on your package. You will need to access the address from the request for the book on your My Account page, just the same way you would begin if you were going to print it; once you are viewing it (either in .pdf format downloaded to your computer, or in a webpage using the backup wrapper link), instead of printing it you can copy it onto your package.  If you choose to hand-write the address to send a book, PBS Delivery Confirmation cannot be used for that shipment.

Here is how to get the address:

  • Click on the request for the book.
  • The Wrapper Settings page will come up.
    • Choose the orientation (layout) of your wrapper
    • Do not click to add PBS Delivery Confirmation to the wrapper.  You will not be able to use PBS-DC if you are hand-printing your address (the DC barcode cannot be generated by hand).
    • Scroll down and click .
      • The .pdf file will download to your computer
      • Open it and copy the address from there.
      • If you are unable to download the .pdf wrapper, you should disable your browser's popup blocker (in Firefox, you can select to allow popups from paperbackswap.com)
      • If your browser is set to accept popups from PBS, you should disable your antivirus/firewall software.
      • If you are able to download the .pdf but cannot open it, you should get a new copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
    • If the Print Wrapper Now button does not work, click for the backup wrapper.
      • You will be taken to a printable form of the address on a new webpage
      • You can hand-copy this.

If you choose to hand-write the address on your package:

  • Please include the Request ID# as part of your return address
    • this is not crucial, but it helps us locate the request if you need to communicate with us about it.
  • Be sure to mark your package conspicuously MEDIA MAIL.
    • If your package weighs less than 6 ounces, it will be less expensive to send First-Class.

I remember there being posts that you SHOULD mark it mailed before you actually mail it if you send it with PBS-DC. If it gets scanned at the post office before you have it marked mailed here, then it messes up your "quick credit".
