Just wanted to give you all a heads-up about some changes we have just made to the book posting process, to try to address the issue of members posting their regular-font books as Large Print. When an ISBN categorized as Large Print is entered onto the Post Books page, there will be an extra box in the Book Listing Preview explaining that this book is listed as Large Print in the database, and non-Large Print books cannot be posted using this listing. This box should come up if the ISBN is categorized as Large Print, even if the title does not include the words "Large Print". There are links and buttons to help the posting member post his or her book correctly. Try it with ISBN 9781594131134 (don't post the book if you don't have it of course!), to see an example of how this works. We hope that this will help with this problem, which we have attacked just about every other way we can think of. We suggest that those of you who use Requestor Conditions NOT change them right now, to see if this programming change makes a difference. Of course, some of the Large Print listings in the database were posted before today when this programming change went live, so the effect will really only be seen right away with Wish Listed books. After a few weeks, if Large Print requestors would please write in using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page and tell us: (1) Do you still get books offered to you from your Wish List, then declined for Requestor Conditions saying "This is not Large Print"? (2) Do you still receive books from your Wish List that were listed as large print but arrive as regular font? (3) In general, is the problem getting better, getting worse, or staying the same? This would be helpful to us in determining if we have made any progress with this change to the book-posting process. Have a great day, everyone, and read on! |

I've just added 3 large print books to my inventory today, but only one of them came up with the new large print posting conditions. |

Thanks for the heads up Nicole. I double checked your titles and noted the ones that didn't bring up new box. I will double check the ones on my shelf and then send the info to R&R so they have it. Edited to add: I have sent feedback to R&R and am waiting to hear back. Last Edited on: 7/15/07 5:57 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

We have been alerted by EasyForTheEyes (thank you!) that some books with "Large Print" in the title are not triggering the Large Print bookposting process. We want to explain, and maybe you can help with this! When the Large Print box has been checked on the Book Information for the book, that ISBN will trigger the Large Print posting process. If that box is not checked, the Large Print posting process will not be triggered. Some listings have "Large Print" in the title inappropriately (and the box is not checked), and some listings do not have the box checked that should.
For example, for an ISBN that is not SOLELY Large Print on an internet search, you would remove the words Large Print from the title, and in the book description box you would put "////Note to approver: This ISBN does not appear to have been assigned SOLELY to Large Print on an internet search.////" Sherry N (royaltech) is our Data Correction Coordinator has gotten a heads-up about this, and she will let the other Data Correction volunteers know.

I have sent feedback to R&R answering the questions Robert said they would like info on: (1) Do you still get books offered to you from your Wish List, then declined for Requestor Conditions saying "This is not Large Print"? Yes, at least six times. (I should note that that is an improvement. In the same time frame, I would get twice that before.) (2) Do you still receive books from your Wish List that were listed as large print but arrive as regular font? Yes, twice. (Again, an improvement.) (3) In general, is the problem getting better, getting worse, or staying the same? There has been improvement and I realize that it's never going to be 100%. Thank you for all the work you've put into this area. Now, I would like to ask others to also send feedback on those questions. It's hardly an accurate picture if I am the only one they hear from. Thanks, Kimberly

I posted a Large Print book... the latest book by Robin Cook. I had to put in the measurements and such. I did check the box for Large Print, but when it was posted, there was no indication it was Large Print. I pm'd the requester and it worked out that way. Thought you would want to know. Kathy C. If you checked the box but don't put it in the title, it won't visibly show as Large Print. It would come up under an advanced search for Large Print though. There's a check box there as well. |
