Luna Wilder is a cop in Nocturne City. Not only is she fighting crime, but she has to fight her werewolf urges as well. She's a tough-as-nails kind of gal, and she definitely exerts her powers whenever needed. She is also known as an Insoli, a werewolf without a pack, after she was turned against her will. While she investigates a string of murders, she finds they are connected to another group of murders from decades past. This leads her into a world of black magic, demons, and a powerful pack leader, Dmitri Sandovsky, as a main suspect.
Night Life is decently written. I think the world is complex as well as the characters, mostly in the prejudices amongst the different species. You know, Humans are greater than Werewolves are greater than Insoli. Luna has a lot on her plate with worrying about her next change into wolf form, her sister Sunny who is a Castor Witch being a key player in her life and even the latest investigation, the local pack leader not trusting her, and even the police force not letting her get involved.
Sometimes I found Luna to be overly rude and just plain nasty to the other characters, although some were very deserving of it. There are definitely some hot scenes. Then there are some that have a lot of blood and ritualistic murders. Which I always enjoy, but other readers may not. Luna and Dmitri are an intriguing duo, although not always a happy one. I'm sure in future books they will feature prominently, and I can't wait to see what this relationship blossoms into. One thing I found to be kind of sloppy in the books were the investigations. Luna is an officer without a partner, which just doesn't happen. Especially in the case of brutal murders taking place in Nocturne City. Although, I'm sure even if she did have a partner she would run off on her own anyway. That's just the kind of girl she is.
I found Night Life to be an easy read, and hopefully this series will be a strong contender in the Urban Fantasy world.

Great book! Haven't read this author before but definetely looking forward to the next one!
Pretty good for the first of a series. I read her 6th book and wanted to find out what happened before, and here tiz. Not as well conveyed as later stories (it seemed to DRAG along in several places), still, it's good to keep an interesting series going, and I enjoyed her spin on werewolves and magic.
I liked this book but it was depressing. Everybody's life is a mess and it didn't real ever seem like there was going to be daylight at the end of the tunnel. It was a good story, I just wish the characters got some happiness.
I can't quite give it five stars, but it is almost there. The character is a believable character but also extraordinary in both spirit and abilities. The setting has werewolves and other creatures known to the public, but it might not have been fully thought out. There are implications to having murderous werewolf packs in a society with rules and law. That's the only knock to the series however. The plot is good. The side characters are good. The police work is good. Even the city, made up though it is, is mapped out rather interestingly.

Catlin Kittredge writes a new version of life with supernaturals. Luna Wilder is a detective trying to live her life as normally as any werewolf can. While dealing with police politics and local wolf packs. The characters are believable, the storyline moves well, all around a very good series. I highly recommend these books.

She hates David Bryson, a detective in her squad as he's a chauvinist pig, pun intended. On the case she's working she meets the alpha of the Redback weres, Dmitri. Sparks fly, but he's a suspect in the murder of three women, although Luna feels he's not guilty. Dimitri is bitten by a hexed were creature while protecting Luna and becomes infected.
With the help of her cousin Sunny who's a caster witch, and Dimitri, Luna manages to stay alive and protect her city.

This is a wonderful beginning to a new series. Luna Wilder was bitten by a werewolf years ago during a rape but doesn't belong to a pack which makes life more dangerous, on top of that she is a police officer who most people don't know is a werewolf. Luna comes from a family of witches and was a disappointment to her grandmother who comes from a long line of witches. There's a serial killer out there, she first suspects Dimitri who is head of his clan. This is humorous as well as well written and an interesting new series.
Luna Wilder is a detective with the Nocturnal police force. When young girls end up savagly murdered, Luna senses this is not a common murder. It smells of Were, and she trys o find the one who she thinks has done the deed. Luna goes where brave men and fools walk, she find the "killer" but he turns out to be the dead girls' mate.
Demetri is devistated to find out Lilia is dead and Luna starts to beleive him. If Demitri did not do this then who, it looked like a were killing.
Luna gets in deep, learning about dark magic and rituals thought to have been forgotten. These girls are being sacrificed to some one or something. Can luna and Demetri find out before the body count gets higher?
