Very funny book about 4 Americans travelling across Western China in the dead of winter, 1988. If you enjoy laughing at other peoples' suffering, read this.

a very interesting, if jaundiced, view of a difficult trek made through China during the 1980s. Bold adventurous readers will be envious and want to try something similar. Armchair travelers will enjoy it and have fun imagining the scenes.
