I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway and I was excited to start reading. The whole concept of this story is pretty awesome: 14 years of light and 14 years of darkness. I was kind of expecting a little more scare factor and it was slightly slow paced, but I liked the plot. It leaves a lot of questions open though. Like what happens to Marin, Line, and Kana when the reach the Desert Lands, if they even do? And will Kana confront his parents with questions? What becomes of Soraya? What was it like for the first people to arrive at the island, with the strange rules and rituals? Did they just follow them, or did they learn the hard way? Do Marin and Line have more than a friendship? There's so many questions!!! I think I need a second book!
