This book was interesting showing the lifestyle of Native Americans in this time period. Not what is portrayed in most movies. Life was very harsh and their treatment of captives be they White,Mexican,or other Indians reflected this. He was captured at age 11 and was with the Indians until age 20. He became an Indian and had some trouble readjusting to white society. Recommended if you have an interest in the settling of the west.

I recomend that you read Captured before reading Herman Lehman's book. Captured is a great overview with much detail of the subject matter. It tells the Lehman story and discusses this book that he wrote with help. Fascinating subject matter. I learned a lot from reading Captured and now want to find this book.
