I loved this book! It still haunts me after almost a decade. K.W. Jeter is unique in his ability to create a future world that is both deeply memorable yet one you would pay anything to forget. From his reanimated dead, who must pay off their debts even in death to the living who pay tribute to their employers by donating strips of their own flesh. It is a world we never want to live in but could imagine falling helplessly into as we sink deeper and deeper into debt...

Jeter can scare the beejesus out of you while making you think about some serious issues. It is a shame his books are so hard to find and generally out of print.

One of the most interesting and haunting science fiction dystopian futures I have read to date. There are scenes from this book that still haunt me after 10 years. Jeter doesn't write enough science fiction of his own outside the Star Trek genre. It's a shame he is a stellar sci fi writer.

Noir is worth a read for original content and worth a second read so you can go... um... did that really just happen?

Jeter has written in the BladeRunner universe, and this is another hardboiled dystopic future. Clever ideas, though.
