To the North Coast in Winter

The road lies lightly on the land
Smooth as grey silk ribbon over curves of earth
Barely touching
An undetermined length of silver
Reflects the sky’s dark clouds
Dropped over hills glowing green in gathering darkness
As from a giant hand
Thoughtfully, lightly
Just now
No time to settle
If I move upon it
Will it lift and fly away with me?

(Thank you to everyone who has made a comment about my poems; it is greatly appreciated. This is the first time I have put any of them out there.
