I don't have anything finished, but I would love to have a group to read my book before I submit it. We could probably e-mail chapters to each other, too.

Is this the novel that you mentioned is too much like a story that was just published?

Well, at least you caught it before you sent it out.

I was thinking the same thing, But I was thinking maybe we could also do things like helping each other when you are stuck on a plot snag, or with character development, basically a sounding board to bounce ideas off of, in addition to the critique circle.

Tell me what you think.

Im in a writing class for fiction. Here's what I came to realize. You can't please everyone, and everyone has their own perspective. Some might love your settings, while other think it's a bit too much.. Some might like your characters, and then tell you they aren't true to character. This is a problem that happens when short story people critique the novel lengths. If they could see the whole thing, they might understand better, and see some other information clarifying why these characters aren't stereotypical ones, but more complex with secrets.  In a short story, it's different. i wrote some short stories with simpy a prompt. such as the word> Frustration. We can all relate to that word, or we've seen someone else that has. Try that and see how it works for you. I can see that you're dedicated to your work. My characters reside in my mind, I think of them while driving or doing almost anything.  It would be difficult to send whole stories to anyone.  I have some of mine put up on yahoo 360. and like you I still edit it about 100 times thinking it needs something.  Im also frivious about goofing off with short stories...just for fun.

I've been doing some writing and definitely need some critiques. So please count me in if you would. I've been doing everything from short stories, to novellas to novels but I hop from one book to another as I get ideas for each and so few are finished. Still, sending chapters sounds like a good idea. Then I would know if it's worth the effort to finish.

Count me in, I've critiqued published authors (before they would send their final out), I've critiqued local, national, regional contests as a judge.  And yes I do write, but just moved so I'm still trying to find everything, in the middle of looking I had to stop and go to the hospitol and have a total knee replacement, which I'm recovering from now.  I also know another friend that is trying to get on the Swap.  As soon as she does maybe she will be able and want to do this also.  She's great at catching things.  I'm better at grammer that charaterization, but opinion are just that someone else's opinion and not written in concrete that makes it right.

MY MOTTO AND RULE

Never change your manuscript if you don't agree totally with the critiquer.

Shelia S.

I'm interested although I lost all of my work when my computer died. I'm in the process of trying to get it all back, but would be happy to join if there's still room.
