This is the first volume in a saga of post-Civil War Texas, the beginnings of the cattle industry, and the first trail drives. The O'Malley brothers suddenly find themselves heading up a drive of 800 longhorn steers over unknown ground through hostile country. The war is just over, Texas is overrun with carpetbaggers and no one has any cash.
Readers who enjoy Louis L'Amour will find this book a good read. This author has other Weaterns, including another multi-volume family saga.
