A riveting story of secret sin and the healing power of forgiveness. Airline pilot Connor Evans and his wife, Michele, seem to be the perfect couple living what looks like a perfect life. Then a plane goes down in the Pacific Ocean. One of the casualties is Kiahna Siefert, a flight attendant Connor knew well. Too well. Kiahna's will is very clear: before her seven-year-old son, Max, can be turned over to the state, he must spend the summer with the father he's never met, the father who doesn't know he exists: Connor Evans. Now will the presence of one lonely child and the truth he represents destroy Connor's family ? Or is it possible that healing and hope might come in the shape of a seven-year-old boy?

This was such a great book that I have ordered more of Karen Kingsbury's novels. I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. Kingsbury definitely paints a picture of the characters and the settings. It was a fast read as she kept the story going throughout the book. I found myself in tears at the end and I don't know that I have ever cried when reading any book. I have told numerous friends about this one but also told them they will have to go get their own copy. I am keeping mine!

I read Karen Kingbury's novel very quickly. This story is about a young son who is suddenly left without his mother and no guaranteed place to live. The characters struggle with their relationships with each other and with God as they weave around trying to find where this little boy fits in. Karen writes from the heart and from her faith. In addition to this book, her 911 series is also very poignant.

Wow, really good book. The reader sees inside each person who deals with the unexpected trial that occurs in this story and feels their pain as each must deal with new knowledge. Kingsbury did a very good job of writing this book from all perspectives.

This is the first book that I have read by Karen Kingsbury and it was very good.

I cried for all the characters in the book. I found that I could relate to each character in the book though I've never been through the situation they faced. It's book that reminds you that everyone is human and mistakes happen, and how forgiveness heals.

I am a Karen Kingbury fan so any book I read of hers I love. It is a book on forgiveness in a marriage which sometimes is very hard to do. You feel that you are going through all the emotions that Michele is going through with trying to figure out what to do. As for Connor he knows he has made a big mistake and now must try and figure out what he needs to do to get Michele's forgiveness.

This book is full of marital complications.

What happens to a marriage when your wife is suffering from a deep depression over the loss of her mother. She can bearly care for herself let alone the children. This causes job pressure, which forces the husband to temporally change his job location to be able to care for her and the kids. During a business trip, and circumstances out of his control he breaks a marital vow. One he never confesses. They begin to rebuild after that horrible time, and then years later, that night resurfaces in the form of an innocent child. One that the husband was never aware of, yet real soon it is going to made crystal clear to him. How is he going to handle it, will it tear them apart, bring them together, or worse what will happen to the young child.

Read and find out!

I love anything Karen Kingsbury, this included. However, this is easily not my favorite. In my opinion, it wasn't written nearly as well as her other novels, and I found numerous editing errors. I wonder if it was one of her earlier novels. I still enjoyed it, but I would recommend Like Dandelion Dust before this one if you're looking for a standalone book to read (non-series.)

I liked this book. However, it didn't grab me. The characters weren't as easy to identify with in this book. I had a hard time reading the chapters that came from Max. It seemed too juvenile for a seven year old. It reminded me a lot of Junie B. Jones. I enjoyed the story line and again the resolution which shows how God works despite human mistakes and insurmountable problems.

This is such a fantastic book. It is a real tear jerker. I cried and cried, but I loved it. What an awesome story. I love all of Karen Kingsbury books but this one takes the cake. It is a very emotional story of an orphaned little boy that will tear your heart out. You will be very glad you read it. Just make sure you have a box of Kleenex near by.

I couldn't put this book down until I had read the whole thing. Karen Kingsbury knows how to get the reader totally involved with the story. Briefly this book is about a girl who has a baby and is killed and everyone goes into action to find the father of the boy and what happens? Well that is for you to read and find out!

From the back cover...

A forgotten secret. A shocking discovery. A sacrifice of love that will bring Connor Evans to his knees.

But an ocean away, a flight attendant is raising her young son by herself when the plane she's working on crashes into the Pacific. Her will is very clear about one thing-before the child an be given over to the state, his father must be contacted.

The news rocks Captain Evans' life, and in the process he is presented with a choice: Refuse the child and never hear from him again, or take him for two weeks and decide whether to claim the boy as his own.

Now, the family is on the brink of destruction. Can Michele and their daughters ever forgive Connor for what went wrong all those years ago? Or will the presence of one lonely child destroy everything?
