I have a book on the way, it's coming from Arizona, but it's made a pitstop in Bell Gardens. Probably a long wait for this one. |
|||
|
|||
I've had one I sent stuck in Federal Way, Washington since March 17th. Hope yours gets to you quicker. |
|||
|
|||
Sorry, your books must be in quarantine! |
|||

Sent one to Kansas in early March (I live in Colorado). Somehow it wound up in Atlanta (spent 2 weeks there) then on to Memphis and then it went back to Atlanta. It goes lost on Sunday, but we know it's still floating around. LOL. |

Our books are certainly travelling more than we are. |

I feel bad for the recipient of the book and hope it eventually gets there. |

Marya - they sure are. Hope they're enjoying the scenery on their way. Pat |

Yeah, and wouldn't you love to be able to travel across country for less than $5 !! Except those mailbags probably aren't very comfy ... and DARK. |

At one time it was possible to send children by mail, even in actual mail sacks. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/brief-history-children-sent-through-mail-180959372/ |

Oh, Marya, I didn't believe it til I read the story you linked. |

Amazing! My book went from Bell Gardens to Des Moines in only 2 days! Incredible. |

That is great Marya, my book is still at Federal Way. Hopefully it times out soon so the recipient can get her credit back. |

Well, oh dear, oh dear. I recieved the book today but the PO damaged it in processing ripping the top two inches of the spine. Nonetheless it's still readable and cerainly the sender is blameless. |

So is the USPS doing more business cause we're doing so much online shopping? Or less cause some people are afraid of touching things? |

We should consider ourselves lucky they don't do to our mail what they did in the late 18th and early 19th centuries when there was a disease epidemic. Numerous book relate how all mail during yellow fever epidemics was dipped in vinegar before being accepted or delivered. They thought this prevented the spread, not knowing yellow fever was vectored by mosquitoes. Which would mean all books we received would then be unpostable due to "water damage." |

Oi, yellow fever! That is the most painful vaccination I ever endured. Needed it before I could go to parts of Africa. The pain of it was stunning, the public health nurse immediately slid a chair up behind me so I wouldn't pass out on the floor. Still yellow fever vaccinations supposedly keep one safe for 10yrs at a go. |

Never had a yellow fever shot, but typhus was pretty painful for me. |
