A fictional romance set in the very real city of New Orleans in the 1880s. An interesting way to learn the anecdotal history of New Orleans. The author gives detailed descriptions of the city and the day-to-day lives of her characters. The book was originally published in 1947, so it reads at a slower pace and gives a glimpse into the attitudes and culture of the past.
