the author describes the greatness of an illiterate iroguois woman, she came to know
during summers at a small french canadian resort village in the laurentians.
written in 1967, there is some cultural bigotry related to the people in the area and how they inter-relate to the Indian woman and themselves.
the Indian woman was a surviver in many ways.
a good book for children.
