Hot and sweet historical romance between a desperate thief and the noble lord who loved and left her.
Emma wronged her husband, Lucas and he abandoned her and left England for seven years. Upon his return, Emma begs him for a divorce so they can both get on with their lives. He refuses claiming he wants an heir then maybe he'll grant her request. The new courtship is fraught with danger for Emma since there are questions about her past that she can't tell Lucas. The give and take between them makes for an interesting story. I really liked Lucas and felt great pity for Emma. I haven't read this author in years, and now I'm wondering why I stopped. Hmmm.

This was a very interesting storyline, lots of twists and turns. Keeps a great pace and you develop a strong connection with the characters.
Addresses quite a few issues in this book, sexual assault, deception, thievery, gambling, adultery, and a few other things.
I enjoyed how the characters worked through each situation and stayed the course.
