Stephen Booth's narratives and plots continue to improve, and they were good to start with. DC Ben Cooper is a very real character with an introspective turn of mind. Diane Fry, his immediate supervisor, is hard for me to like, a very damaged person; she too is growing into a fully fleshed, flawed yet fascinating character. (alliteration unplanned! ;D )
This plot is excellent, some twists I could guess at, some took me by surprise. I will look forward to reading Booth's future works.

I love all the Cooper & Fry books. I like the way the author brings in the personal details of the major characters and how it reflects in their work. The setting of the Peak District
is also very interesting. I didn't know anything about it before this series. I thought this one was especially puzzling because of the assumptions made early on about who the murderer is. It kept me guessing all the way through.
I plan to read every book in the series.

Great British mystery writer - well-written with great characters, plot and setting.
