Man, did I love this book! It's a fairy tale with a unique use of words. I found it to be highly entertaining to figure out the meanings of the substituted terms. For instance, instead of arquebus (a heavy portable matchlock gun invented during the 15th century) the author substitues omnibus (an old word for a bus), so the soldiers fired their omnibuses. Word games such as this are prevalent throughout the story.

A fun fantasy along the lines of Princess Bride and The Once & Future King.
