Kane has gone from poor to rich while Lori has lost all she had. The murder investigation is still on and no new leads on the kidnapping from thirty years ago. The series continues with two characters who have been introduced in earlier books in Within Striking Distance. Becky Peters and Jake McMaster, who is related to Patsy Grosso.
