I happened apon this book in a used book store. Written in 82, I wasn't sure if I was even going to like it, but it sounded interesting. Once I started it however I couldn't put it down. This book is so much more than "just" the story of "The Five". Friends that grew up together and grew apart. It's also about the changes they live through and expierence in america. It takes place in the 50s and 60s. It shows how the changing times changed them. It has draw dropping shocking moments, where you wonder how people can be so cruel to each other. I just can't say enough good things about this book. If people ask for a recommended read, this is the one I now point them to.
