There are three outgoing mail slots in my building, each with a different label: Stamped, Metered and Flats. Which one does a PBS book with printed postage belong in? What exactly is a Flat, anyway?

I use metered. Stamped is, well, postage stamps, anything with a picture and prepaid amount or the anytime stamps. Metered is anything printed by something like a Pitney Bowes postage meter, or another label making stamp method. Flats are large, usually business envelopes,   9 x 11, etc. not thick, just  a few millimeters in depth.
