So this kind of confuses me. If I pay for my postage before I go to the PO, where do I put it? When I'm there I never see a place for me to put large paid for items. And by large I mean books over 13 oz. Do I have to wait in line to give it to them, if so that defeats the purpose. |

If by postage you mean stamps, it has to go to a clerk at the retail counter. And for your particular post office, perhaps the best answer is to ask a clerk the next time you are there. Several of the post offices I go to have an APC bin, the opening on which will take fairly large (but not huge) boxes. Even the other ones have blue boxes or slots/hatches that will take packages up to several inches thick. But I must admit that the USPS is really annoying me with these requirements for using a clerk at the retail counter when the counter is staffed less than half the time, and usually inadequately staffed even when it is. -bret

I LOVE using the APC kiosk at the PO for purchasing variable rate postage for swapping. I buy several $2.31 and $2.65 "stamps" at a time so I'm ready to mail whenever without the limitations of using regular stamps. It's been a real time-saver for me to use this service. I'm quite a fan of the APC kiosk at my PO. ~Margaret |

Also, if you buy the APC stamp, you can drop it in a blue box, which are everywhere. This is what I do - I buy 5 or 10 $2.13 stamps at the APC at a time, then stick them on the books when they are requested, and drop them in a blue box on my way to work. To me, it's the easiest way to do things. |
