I'm not sure how to explain this one. I really liked this story, and the characters, and the alternating contrast between island laid back and politics driven, heck I even liked the voodoo plotline including retribution, but then came the ending. I could not stop myself from finishing because of the fun it was up to that point and of the time invested, but when I closed the book I thought "it's his debut novel, maybe he'll think of better endings in the future".
