This book took me a little while to get into. You really wanted to hate the mom for her ways. I also wished for a happily ever after for everyone.

I don't want to give anything away but it deals with a woman who hated her past and history so much, that she "re-wrote" it just to marry and be included into the black high society. She raised another woman's children to look down on others not of their class or social status. But one broke free but didn't/couldn't get too far.

Overall it was a pretty good book.
