WOW..  I am #22 out of 245 on the Wish List for the new J. R. Ward coming out in October.
Do you ever research upcoming books and jump on the Wish List?

If I remember to do it!! Most of the time I forget to check for new books coming out from favorite authors!

Of course I have so many books to read I can afford to wait through the long WL!

I do that all the time! I normally use Amazon and Barnes&Noble to see what is coming out. I have some books on my wishlist that do not even come out until 2008. :)

Fantastic Fiction   is a great site to find out upcoming books from your favorite authors. I have several books on my WL that don't come out until Jan-April of next year. I was able to get oneof the first spots , if not the first spot in the WL line by checking FF.

Yes, I do!  I'm right up near the top for the next two John Grisham books, as well as a few others.  :-)

Can someone tell me how do I add a book to my wish list if it's not in the system yet?

I found a few a while back but didn't know how to add them because no one had them added to their wish list yet and was not yet in the system.

Christie - just put the ISBN # in the search field.  I haven't run into a problem yet w/ them not being here on the system and some of them don't come out until April of next year.

That's what I'm doing.  Here is one I can't find in the system so I don't know how to add it.  ISBN# 9781847560018

Christie,

If you are looking for Amnesia by Beverly Barton, I wonder if the difficulty is due to it being a UK book?  I found it listed on Amazon UK but not Amazon.

Christie; as Lori says, put ISBN in the search field, but click on "unposted books" or "wish list books". Then add to your Wish List from there.  I do it all the time for books not published yet.

Monica; would you mind telling me the name of the new Grisham books?  I know about the one about Italy and the football player. What's the other one?  Thanks. June

I always use FF to find what order a particular series comes in. I then put it in Excel and can print it out to search here for them.

Christie - Marlissa is right. You're using the UK version. Keep checking back to FF - when you see on the RIGHT side of the book to check Amazon - that will be for the US version. Use that ISBN # and the book will come up. Since there is nothing to click on the right side of the book righ now, it means that there has not been a US ISBN # assigned to it yet.

June - Playing for Pizza is the only upcoming book (9/07) that FF has for any upcoming Grisham books. It's the only one I've heard about recently that is coming out.

Thanks Lori, that's what I thought also.  However, Monica said there were 2 Grisham books coming. I couldn't find another one besides Playing for Pizza.  Just want to make sure I wasn't missing something!

OK, let me start by saying that no one here is doing anything wrong. Putting a book on the WL months before it is available is perfectly acceptable by site rules. (Or else it wouldn't be allowed! :) ) Shoot, I even have a book on my WL that is not going to be released until something like December.

But I wonder how this practice must look like to new members who come to this site for the first time. Imagine you show up, and you find out that the current popular fiction has WL lines of 150 or so. But then you look and see that a book that isn't even due to be released for three months has a waiting list of 250+. If I hadn't been sent to this site by a referral, I'd be thinking "Ponzi Scheme". I mean, the older members get first dibs on ALL the new books that are due to come out up to the NEXT YEAR. People signing up for books that won't be released for over nine months.... That would mean that I might have a chance at a popular WL book that hasn't been released yet after, say, about 10 months on the site. It just doesn't look good.

I just don't think that allowing the practice is very good for the site.

I have found that it is easier to search for an author name here than the specific author web sites, so I have bookmarked searches and then just go through each one every day. I have been able to get early on the WL for a few that way. :)

There's plenty of books out there with nobody wishing for them at all, or only one or two ... and oncethe books do come out and everyone's read them who bought them new, they'll start showing up on the site. Especially after they get remaindered. :-> I personally went from being 75 of 100 on a given book's wishlist, to suddenly being 72 of 358 (Oprah talked about it), to getting the book in the mail, and now there are only about 75 people in line for it, so apparently a lot of people are reading and reposting busily.
