Every year for the past several, I have spent a good portion of my summer revisiting Fairacre. This book is the last in the series and is as good as every one before it. Miss Read has retired from Fairacre School and assumes she will have a lovely, peaceful retirement. Well. She finds she is busier than ever, we still can visit all the dear characters, Mr. Willet, Amy, the Vicar and his wife, the Annets, and of course: Mrs. Pringle. And of course there are new friends, too. These books are gentle, humorous stories from the English School and the villages surrounding it. I recommend all these books to you.
