This is a really good new twist on the vampire legends. Very twenty first century. Some of the characters watching Dancing With The Stars is LOL funny. There are a couple one liners in this book that are absolutely hilarious. The parallels between politics in the real world and politics in this book is outstanding. Great effort must have went into drawing these parallels on our current politics, policies, humanities and the world view of not wanting anything different then we are now. The characters talk about discrimination, the LGBT community, a different type of immigration, leaving people to live their own lives without government interference, equal rights, disinformation, protests, and yes, even fake news. Also there is a very interesting character that has broken and shattered the glass ceiling. The House and Senate are divided just like ours. Plus you throw in some drugs, blood and human trafficking you really have a well written, very interesting vampire story. This book is very entertaining, but it also really makes you think what would happen to our world if a new human species developed. The characters are interesting and well developed. I truly hope to see other vampire books set in this new world.
