I am new to pbs and I have a book that was given to me and is on the wanted list but it has water damage and the edge looks bad is there a place for books that look this way?  It has been stored and I would not want to put it in as good condition.

You can offer it as a freebie with an order from your shelf in the book baazar. That's about all you can do with it. The book bazaar is in the list of discussion forums. Good luck!

There is a topic in the Book Bazaar specifically for WL books that can't be posted. I believe most offer them as a bonus for some special. Read a few of them and get an idea, and then post in there with your own. I hear they get snapped up pretty quickly :)

Welcome to PBS by the way!!!

Also, try adding it to your signature line, as I have done below.  You can do this through the "Settings" tab in your account.

As Tammy said, because it has water damage, you can't post the book.   You can't ask a credit for it in anyway because it's not tradable by PBS standards.   You can either offer it totally free or offer it free with an order from your shelf.   There are threads for both of these options in the Book Bazaar forum or you can put it in your signature line.

Definitely update your profile to include a signature line that lists unpostable books that you are willing to offer free with any other order!  I have only been a member for 3 months, but have unloaded several unpostable books this way.  Of course, to really take advantage of the signature line, you need to post in the forums in order for other members to see it, so start in the Book Bazaar, as was mentioned above.  Good luck!

What about books with peoples names or with names of the library or school they came from?  (Like from a book sale)

Or if they are old, like only 10-15 years, are they acceptable?  The few I have don't have any wear on them, they are just an older version..

Elise;  welcome to PBS.  Yes, old books are good to post here. If they don't have an ISBN#,  click Post Books, and on the right side under the barcode, click Post without an ISBN. where it says to "click here".

As for names; is it ok on the flyleaf of the book. As long as there is no writing or highlighting in the book.  Per the Help Center:

  • a signature or note on the flyleaf is OKAY
