This was an enjoyable book and has made me a John Saul fan. The story about a high school girl that eventually becomes kidnapped keeps you interested. It's a very quick read. The story is not so far fetched that it couldn't possibly happen and that increases it's appeal.

Sometimes it's so hard to review books but not give anything away! Another Saul winner. He's not afraid to take risks in his stories and I didn't even have a guess until page 296 and the final story didn't really come out until the bitter end (and bitter it is!)

This thriller will definitely keep you guessing!

My only complaint with the book was the ending. I was a little disappointed with it and thought it could have been written differently.

I read this hoping to be spooked, but I wasn't. The characters weren't very convincing or detailed and I wasn't at all surprised at the ending. In fact, about half way through I had it figured out.

When Lindsay Marshall mysteriously vanishes from her bedroom during the night, her mother, Kara, fears the worst. Their neighbor Patrick Shields can easily relate to Kara's grief-he is still dealing with the pain of losing his wife and two children in a devastating fire. But heartache isn't all that draws Patrick and Kara together. He, too, senses the hand of a malevolent stranger in this tragedy. And as more people go missing, Patrick's suspcion, like Kara's, blooms into horrified certainty. Someone is trolling this peaceful community--undetected and undeterred--harvesting victims for a purpose no sane mind can fathom. Kara and Patrick, alone and desperate, are determined to unmask the monster who even now is watching, plotting, keeping a demented diary of unspeakable deeds...and waiting until the time is ripe to make another fateful move.

JOHN SAUL is one of my favorite authors. He out did his self in this book. Is was so interesting, I read it in three days! It is about three people missing, and a mother who will not give up her search for her daughter. I was into this book I found myself thinking, don't do that, don't go there. I wanted so badly to go to the end and find out the ending. But I didn't. And I am so glad I didn't. The kipnapper
is one sick sucker, but you will find out why.
So read and enjoy.....

Another good book by John Saul!

John Saul is one of my favorite authors, however, this not one of his better writings. Having read Kiss the Girls by James Patterson prior to this, the two novels are quite similar in content. The characters were not as developed as well as the should have been, especially the "villian." A prelude and epilogue would have greatly enhanced the story for the reader. I was disappointed with the very abrupt ending as well. The book is worth reading, but not as good as some of the author's previous works.
