The simple and beautiful story of a child who went for an evening walk and saw a beautiful shining star. He climbed a tree and got the star and took it home with him but the star seemed to get sick, became dimly lighted, may have a fever, etc. and finally Peterkin realizes he should take the star back and put him in the sky where the star watched over him every night thereafter.
