I was a young child when Saigon fell and I remember seeing news coverage of it. Song of Saigon opened my eyes to the events leading up to the Vietnam war and what it was like for the people who lived there. It describes the history of the nation during the decades preceding the war through the history of Anh Vu Sawyer's family, starting with her grandfather. It is a beautiful, intimate look at what this family lived through for three generations, until they were able to flee the country. It is also a story of the many ways God provided for and protected Anh and her family, in Vietnam and as refugees in the United States. I highly recommend it.
