A highly classified Above Top Secret project conducted by the Navy in 1943, the Philadelphia Experiment involved the teleportation of the USS Eldridge (a megaton destroyer) from its dry dock in the Philadelphia Naval Yard to Norfolk, Virginia, a distance of around 400 miles.
During at least part of the time the Eldridge was "missing" from the city of brotherly love, the destroyer was said to have been transported into another dimenision a sort of no man's land of darkness and silence from which few have been know to return. Upon returing to this time ands space most of the crew all of whom had been left totally unprepared and unprotected by those scientists put in charge of the project -- either caught on fire, got literally frozen to death into the hull of the ship or went stark, raving mad.
Those who were "lucky" and appeard to return to some semblance of normality after the experiment was officially shut down, soon found themselves lining a hellish existence as they were repeatedly plled back into this alternate reality to relive the horrors of the Philadelphia Experiment over and over again until there were only two survivors left in the world. Depressed! Demented|! Driven utterly insane.
One by one those who remained with us found themselves fighting a new enemy - our own government. Now we know for sure the the Philadelpia Experiment really did take place.....
