Someone who has delayed mailing out a book to me just marked it 'mailed' a few minutes ago.....on a Saturday night, the day before a regular closed day for the PO plus a holiday closure on Monday.  Pleas explain how it can be dated as mailed on 31 Dec when it won't get into PO hands until TU , January 2?

Maybe they put it in the mail earlier today and only marked mailed this evening. Since the PBS system only logs the actual time they clicked the button, the USPS tracking, if they used it, will possibly be the only way to see what time it truly moves through the mail.

If I drop a book off at the post office today, it is mailed. Being a Sunday doesn't change the fact I mailed the book. Where it gets scanned en route doesn't change when I dropped it in the mail chute.

A lot of times I mail books from my mailbox and it is mailed when I put it in there. It doesn't matter when the carrier comes to pick it up.
